Story and summary of Isra and Miraj
Al-Isra '"Wal-Miraj" took place at a time when the Holy Prophet (saw) was facing severe difficulties and hardships. The Quraysh, who were his tribe and his family, ridiculed, humiliated, and oppressed the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his followers. Moreover, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had just faced a year of hardships, during which he lost his beloved wife Khadija (RA) and his uncle Abu Talib (AS) who was his protector and ally.
In addition to all these burdens, when the Holy Prophet (SAW) visited Taif in search of allies, the people of Taif vehemently rejected him, sending their children to the streets to leave him until he left him out of the City
After going through a lot of grief and anguish, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was really given a beautiful and comforting gift. It was not only conveyed through the Holy of Holies and the heavens but ultimately sent into the divine presence, the source of all contentment and hope. The most important lesson of Isra 'Wal-Miraj, therefore, is that "every difficulty will make it easy" (Surah 94).
Al-Isra ': From the Kaaba to Al-Aqsa
While the Prophet (PBUH) was sleeping in the Hijr, the angel Gabriel (AS) came and woke him up, and took him to an Arabic animal named Buraq. Gaya (Arabic word barq means electricity). The Prophet (PBUH) rode on this otherworldly creature and started flying towards Quds (Jerusalem).
At several places along the journey, Gabriel (AS) stopped Balak and said to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), "Be inclined and pray." The first stop was Madinah - the place of migration - and immediately that night, the Holy Prophet (saws) met the Ansar and migrated to Madinah. The second stop was Mount Sina, where God revealed the Torah to Moses. The third stop was Jerusalem, where Jesus was born. The fourth stop was the tomb of Moses, which was "a stone's throw from the Holy Land", at the foot of a red sandhill. (Bukhari)
Finally, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) reached Al-Aqsa Mosque. All the 124,000 Prophets (AS) were waiting inside. Gabriel (AS) led the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to the front, and he (peace be upon him) led the prayer of all of them in this blessed place.
Al-Maraj: Al-Aqsa from the sky
Allah then took the Prophet (peace be upon him) from the dome of the rock from the heavens, where he not only saw many miraculous scenes and many angels but also met the previous prophets (AS). Along the way, he was greeted with enthusiasm and joy, as his arrival was highly anticipated.
It is difficult to imagine how he must have felt when he met his brothers (AS), all of whom had faced trials and tribulations because he had shown them this warmth and love. Encountered when he was isolated by his own tribe. "Welcome," they all said to him, "O pious Prophet and pious brother! (Bukhari) Hazrat Adam (AS) and Hazrat Abraham (AS) welcomed him as a pious son).
After all the hardships that he (saws) and his followers had tried, the Prophet (saws) was now witnessing the innumerable beauties of Paradise which he would later narrate to his Companions. At the end of this journey, he was brought to the Divine Strength, which is the ultimate source of strength and comfort. It is impossible to imagine the beauty of this scene, or What an honor and humility the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) showed.
It is here that Allah gave the gift of obligatory prayers to this ummah, which is a source of daily strength to the Muslims as it gives us the opportunity to communicate with Allah and get closer to Him. As we approach the anniversary of Isra 'Wal-Miraj, let us take the time to deeply appreciate the gift of advice and increase our voluntary prayers and night prayers.
Return home
Finally, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was taken back to Aqsa and returned to Makkah. When he was transferred home, he saw various caravans heading towards Makkah, which he would later narrate to the Quraysh as proof that he had indeed made this miraculous journey. The whole journey took place in less than a night, and there were many who made fun of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) for making such claims.
For Muslims, however, the story was a source of surprise and hope, as it remains with us today. On this night, the best creation (peace be upon him) was honored to travel to Paradise and be welcomed in the presence of God, and this event surprised and delighted both the Muslims on earth and the people of Paradise. This is truly an incredible story.
